WiCell International Stem Cell (WISC) Bank
|
WiCell has launched the WISC Bank to distribute pluripotent stem cell lines currently not included in the National Stem Cell Bank. The WISC Bank began its operation by offering four iPS (induced pluripotent stem) cell lines, genetically reprogrammed from human skin cells to an embryonic state, including the most recently published vector-free iPS cell lines derived in the laboratory of stem cell pioneer Dr. James Thomson. Additional pluripotent stem cell lines, including disease model cell lines and genetically modified lines containing marker genes will be added from providers locally and worldwide. Ordering Cells from the WISC BankDirections for ordering the iPS cells can be found here. To obtain cells, researchers must complete an agreement ensuring that the cells will be used only for non-profit research and pay a per vial transfer/cost recovery fee plus shipping costs. In addition WiCell will provide technical support for the long-term establishment of the iPS cell cultures, which are even more challenging to grow than most hES cell lines. Depositing Cells into the WISC BankIf you are interested in depositing stem cell lines into the WISC Bank, please email a representative or call us at 1-888-204-1782 for more information.
