Aimee Pankonin, Cell Culture Laboratory Manager

In this position, Aimee manages WiCell’s Stem Cell Bank and CORE activities. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biotechnology from California State University, San Marcos and has over a decade of experience working with hESCs/iPSCs, reprogramming, primary cell derivation, cell characterization, CRISPR gene editing, and core facility management.

Previously, Aimee managed the Stem Cell Core at the Salk Institute in La Jolla, Ca and trained researchers in stem cell culture before exploring the biotech industry and ultimately deciding on a new adventure - moving to Wisconsin to join WiCell.

Favorite thing about WiCell: "I love how welcoming and collaborative the whole team is."

Aimee worked as a chef (primarily a sushi chef) before moving into science and can open a dozen oysters in under a minute.
