James Johnson, Scientist


As a Scientist at WiCell James leads the development of cell line characterization assays. Previously James was a R&D Scientist as Vascugen where he developed iPSC derived Vascular Progenitor Cells for cell therapy and as a Postdoctoral fellow at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, he led studies of hematopoiesis in models of stem cell transplantation and Sickle Cell disease.  

James holds his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin - Madison is Cellular and Molecular Pathology and a BS from UW-Eau Claire in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.  

At WiCell James enjoys being a part of a friendly and welcoming team with the common goal of supporting groundbreaking research.  In his free time James enjoys running and would never pass up good french toast.
