Kim Leonhard, Senior Cytogenetics Manager

  
Kim graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a BS in Genetics and completed the Cytogenetic Technology Program at the Mayo Clinic, which led to her certification as a Technologist in Cytogenetics by the American Society for Clinical Pathology. She worked at the Mayo Clinic for a year analyzing chromosomes and performing the culture and harvest of clinical blood samples, then returned to Madison to join WiCell. Kim’s work at WiCell as the Senior Cytogenetics Manager includes chromosome, FISH, and SKY analysis as well as the culture and harvest of both mouse and human cells. She moves cases through the analysis process from imaging to reporting and makes sure everything is flowing through smoothly and efficiently. She assigns cases to the remote technologists and supports them however she can. In addition, Kim also helps with training new technologists on various aspects of the workflow in cytogenetics. Kim appreciates the relaxed and flexible working environment and team atmosphere here at WiCell.  In her spare time, Kim enjoys baking and bringing in treats for her co-workers.
